Dr. Ken Cotrone has been an English teacher and school administrator for over 20 years. Ken has been an English department chair, assistant principal, curriculum leader and head of school.
He understands the nuances involving the writing process and helps students retrieve their inner-voice as writers. He is a patient and supportive educator who understands first hand how stressful the college essay writing process can be.
Ken has received curriculum training at Columbia University's Readers and Writers Workshop and has led various training programs for teachers. He also helped to implement a Pre-AP initiative which helped to align English skills in the lower grades to AP level English classes. Ken holds a bachelor's degree in English Literature and Rhetoric from SUNY Binghamton.
Scott Shapiro is an award-winning educator with over 25 years experience. He started his career working as an editor in New York City but quickly followed his passion for teaching and coaching children in all facets of English language arts. He has worked with students in grades 3-12 and has proudly served as a college advisor, grade-level coordinator, and curriculum specialist in lower Westchester County.
Having participated in various college admissions panels, Scott knows how student applications are reviewed, analyzed and scored. He considers all factors influencing college admission decisions including essays, standardized test scores, extracurricular activities, recommendations, interviews, strength of curriculum, portfolios, and work experience.
Scott helps students of all abilities write "stand-out" personal and supplemental essays. He brings a treasure trove of resources to the table as he guides students through the writing process.
